June, 2009: Nate Bernstein was appointed to the Valley Beth Shalom Day School Board of Trustees for a 2 year term. During the past year Mr. Bernstein had served on the Development Committee for the VBS Day School. The Committee helps to raise funds for the day school fund and its programs.

May, 2009: Nate Bernstein & Associates settles major check cashing fraud case. The case involved a check cashing company that obtained numerous loans, and then sold the business without paying the loans. A cross-complaint was filed alleging RICO violations. based on alleged usurious lending practices. One day prior to jury selection the main case and cross-complaint were fully settled in a mandatory settlement conference held in the Superior Court.
Attorney Nate Bernstein articulated, " After 2 years of hard fought litigation, I was pleased to settle the case, as the trial had 3 components including a main fraud component, an alter ego liability component, and a cross-complaint pertaining to RICO violations. The trial would have lasted about 2 weeks. Key to the case was an accountant's expert's financial report on the corporate affairs of the defendants."
